In my paintings, I try to bring a piece of nature onto the canvas. Inspired by the endless night sky, the fieldstones beneath our feet - like flint with its fascinating textures and depth - as well as the majestic landscapes of distant places: the raw, endless fjell of Norway or the vast Rockies of Canada.

Among other things, I work with soil and charcoal gathered from places that have become deeply meaningful to me - from my homeland or from journeys that shaped me. I love knowing that the charcoal in a painting comes from a campfire beside a still, crystal-clear lake in Norway, or the earth from a forest clearing with an atmosphere all its own.
